Farming in the hills brings its own challenges and our cattle must be fit for purpose. Through a continual process of genetic selection we aim to breed cows that thrive in this environment.

Aberdeen Angus

Satisfied customers return year after year for consistently productive bulls

Our cattle are selected for natural performance producing finished animals off grass and forage.

The selection of animals is also backed up by the ABRI recording scheme. This allows us to select our young bulls for conformation and growth along with fertility and carcase traits; they are performance recorded and are fed on a forage based diet.

We are members of the SAC PCHS (Premium Cattle Health Scheme); our breeding stock is blood tested for Johnes and the herd is screened and vaccinated for BVD.

We expect our cows to:

  •       Calve unassisted – easy care, low maintenance
  •       Produce 10 + calves in a lifetime – durable, fertile cows
  •       Wean calves that weigh 250kg at 200 days – great milk production
  •       Calve regularly every 365 days from two years old – profit every year
  •       Live outside all year, 650 - 750 kg bodyweight – cheap to keep

Our targets are to produce steers that finish at 18 months on grass, producing a 330kg carcase R4L or better.

Heifers should produce 300kg carcase at the same age.

Also featuring the best of New Zealand and Australian genetics.

Our bulls are not the biggest in the market place; however we believe them to be the

most commercially productive - and they last!
